Shimano TLD II Conventional Reels![]()
Depending on what's being caught and who's doing the catching, you'll need a reel to perform in different ways. The Shimano TLDII provides all the power, reliability and versatility you need in a big game lever drag reel, and it's all in one lightweight package.
Not sure the benefits of a two-speed?...Here's Haddrells' quick, idiot-proof explanation as to why you'd want one: Two-speed reels have a high-speed setting and a low-speed setting. The low setting has more torque behind it and results in less work (in terms of turns of the handle) for the angler. Using the low setting is the same concept as putting your truck in 2nd gear when you're climbing a mountain rather than driving up that thing in 4th. This is ideal for women, children, wimpy men...whoever may need a little more help resistance-wise when reeling in that huge fish. The high setting has much less torque, meaning a much faster line retrieve. This is useful when changing out bait, re-casting, or packing it in for the day. In terms of what makes the TLD 2-Speed special besides its “best of both worlds” capability, this series features a graphite frame and sideplates, an aluminum spool, and anti-rust bearings made of an extremely durable, specially-treated stainless steel that is 10x more corrosion-resistant than traditional stainless steel bearings. Owned personally by every licensed captain on our staff, it's pretty obvious we have a huge crush on the TLDII.
