When Penn decided they wanted to take Lever Drag reels to the next level, they knew just where to look for ideas and suggestions: local marinas and tackle shops (including Haddrell's Point, a long-time warranty center for Penn Reels). The results of Penn's research led to the creation of an angler-friendly, reliable, cutting-edge series of reels whose name is known and respected world-wide: the International V Two Speed Series.

The foundation of these reels begins with their one-piece machined aluminum frames and side-plates. This ergonomic design allows for exceptional cranking power and strength, as well as the ultimate in gear alignment. Next, Penn's patented Quick Shift™ Two-Speed Retrieval System allows you to easily shift into high or low gear, giving you the ability to retrieve your line at the pace you prefer. A common problem on boats is that “curious” child, guest, girlfriend, etc. that just can't keep his/her hands off the reel...inevitably adjusting your drag setting. But, with the International Series, this isn't a problem. These “girlfriend-proof” reels feature Penn's Push-to-Turn™ pre-set knob that keeps the drag exactly where it needs to be and avoids any accidental changes. Also “element-proofing” these reels are their ratcheted levers. These levers prevent and eliminate “drag creep” that may result from heavy vibrations caused by hours of trolling and loud diesel engines. Further perfecting your drag process are the Dura-Drag™ washers; even under the most extreme drag settings, these washers provide a smooth, durable drag surface and do away with hesitation. Topping off the International Series is the reels' stainless steel gear system equipped with four ball bearings.
