Hot summertime bite

With an early morning low tide this week fishing has been on fire. Cooler cleaner water has been flowing in the rivers producing some great fishing for redfish and trout. On the lower part of the tide redfish are plentiful around oyster beds and under docks. As the tide comes in the reds move towards the grass edge searching for finger mullet and shrimp. If you are in search of trout the mid tide and rising has been realy hot. Lots of dink trout with a few nice ones mixed in. Live shrimp under a popping cork has been the bait of choice, but dont rule out the old trusty DOA shrimp. The Silver Holographic 1/4 oz DOA shrimp under a cajun thunder popping cork with a 3-4 foot leader of 20# florocarbon has been my go to rig the last few weeks and has really payed off. Come stop by Haddrels Point Mt Pleasant and I will set you up with what you need to chase either the redfish or trout.
